Hi All! I noticed some posts for Carmel Church, which is the name of the interchange at I-95 and VA-207. Unfortunately, there is no post office designation for Carmel Church. Instead, the actual location is "Ruther Glen, VA". Took me awhile to find these using map sites since I'm not familiar with the area. It would help out-of-towners if "Ruther Glen" where used. Thoughts?

yeah, I wouldn't mind paying $2.15, right now it looks like $2.25 is the best I can do, or even $2.21 if BJ's hasn't gone up since the weekend.

Thanks NateDog476, for the FlyingJ link. I signed up about a month ago, and used the FlyingJ card for the first time Sunday in Haw River, NC. Saved 36 cents total on two fillups. Not much, but, hey - it's free money!

That $2.15 is starting to look pretty good (just checked the FlyingJ site and it's still at that price).

You can apply online, or via postal mail for their program. Unfortunately I dont think the in person application provides a immediate discount. I have included the weblink for the online application below

http://www.flyingj.com/programs/rewards.cfm

Definitely helps even a bit considering they have one of the cheapest prices in the state.

Natedog: thanks for reminding me about the Flying J card. I travel that section of I-95 on average once a week and will actually be filling up there early tomorrow morning. Can you apply for the card in-store and get the 1 cent discount instantly? Not much, but every little bit helps as much as I drive. :)

To UvaStudent, have you gotten the Flying J member rewards card, I recently did and have enjoyed knocking off additiona cents on my gas purchases lately as I have traveled between NOVA and Glen Allen.

And so the Carmel Church saga goes on, maybe the state should change the I-95 sign to Ruther Glen or To: Carmel Church, in order to be more accurate, or as Uvastudent has posted with Rogers-Clark Blvd, for increased accuracy for all.

I post prices from Exit 104 as Ruther Glen, including both the exact street address (xxxxx Rogers-Clark Blvd) and exit number.

That area has some of the cheapest gas in Virginia. I filled up at the Flying J there yesterday for $2.019/gallon.

The dual name in the address wouldn't work. Then it would look for "Carmel Church - Ruther Glen." For me, I used to use Carmel Church, but I've changed to Ruther Glen the past few times I went through there.

Well, how about "Ruther Glen - Carmel Church"? Then, mapping programs, like Ah Ding's "CheapGas", would have no problem finding the exit, and those of us who aren't within a mile or two of the exit and are trying to find the cheapest gas in Virginia don't have to run several google searches or dig through our atlas to find it. "actual town name - local place or area" is a standard used elsewhere for things like this. Sound good?

It can go either way. Carmel Church is the name of the exit. Technically, it is the name of the crossroad at US 1 and VA 207. Because it's less than 1/2 a mile from there, most people call it Carmel Church. However, as you noted, the postal address is Ruther Glen. However, it is not noted at all on I-95 that it is Ruther Glen. The only towns on the sign there are Carmel Church and Bowling Green, which is about 15 miles NE from there. Flying J is the only one that uses Carmel Church on their locator. For the local, Ruther Glen would be better, but the local would know where Carmel Church is, and I think Carmel Church would help the traveler since that is what is on the sign at I-95.
